Mrs. Martin's Class!

Hello class! I hope that you're all doing well.  My second placement was in a grade 8 classroom in Georgetown and went very well.  I have been busy finishing that up and just began volunteering at a high school to get some experience doing that.  Who knows - maybe one day I'll be your high school teacher! (Yes... that is a ways away, but wishful thinking is key) :)

How is the preparation for EQAO going? I'm confident you will did your best and put in great effort.  Don't stress - you're all very capable.

I can't wait to hear about your sports, clubs, and all extracurriculars, how the year has gone, etc.  I am hoping to visit in the next few weeks once I finish volunteering at the high school.

So far this summer I have about 10 country concerts lined up - I will actually be able to see the band that I had in my 'all about me' presentation, as well as a few others.  I may have a trip planned but that is still a big maybe!  How are you? Are you excited for the nearing summer?

Keep being the best you can be, and I will see you all soon!

God bless!

P.S. Here are some update pictures of my puppy Riley.  He has been such a goof lately:

3 Links I Use Everyday

We use the internet everyday - whether it be for gaming, seeing the latest fashion trends, or researching for your homework.  Here are a few resources that I love to use and find helpful for a variety of reasons.  Can you think of why I would find these useful?:

If you're ever having trouble understanding concepts we cover in class, TeacherTube has a number of videos, podcasts, etc. that will further explain many of these topics.

Keeping up to date with local, national or international news is a great way to extend what we've learned and to stay informed about the world around us.  Check out Inside Halton - Burlington and The Globe and Mail.

I also suggest you sign up for Pinterest.  It will provide you with excellent ideas and is a place where you can share your work and ideas as well!

We will be using these sites in class, and I encourage you to get familiar with them at home!

Feeling Stuck?

So you've been working on your homework all night long, but cannot seem to find an answer to your question!  What do you do? Where do you go?  Who do you ask?  The next few links are valuable resources that you can use to get to the bottom of some of these puzzling questions.

- Google - ask a question, or use those search engine tips we examined in class
- Wikipedia - use this for some general information on a plethora of topics
- Dictionary - great way to expand your vocabulary and proofread as you edit through the writing process
- YouTube - lots of educational videos (or listen to your favourite song for a nice study break :))

If you have any questions about how these links work, please come and see me in class. Remember: they are great starting points for your research, we will use academic sources in class to ensure that the information is accurate!

Happy Researching:)
